Therese, the heroine of this melodrama leads a sad and hard life. Her husband is an alcoholic and they hardly make both ends meet. They have two children to feed and live with the ever grumbling and complaining mother-in-law. Even after her husband takes his mother to the old people‘s home and goes off to Russia to allegedly get a better job, Therese‘s misery doesn‘t stop. One day, she gets a letter from her brother-in-law informing her that his mother died, and her last wish was to be buried in her home village. Therese takes this wish seriously and sets out on a long and tiring journey…
The Funeral Procession was a big success at theatre festivals in Armenia, Russia and Iran. Greta Medschlumjan from the National Theatre in Erevan is one of the most acclaimed actresses in her country.
